Bernard Clark
Bernard Clark is a Canadian magazine photographer, specializing in editorial work, and a regular contributor to Skin & Ink tattoo magazine. He is currently focusing on photographing tattooed subjects for an ongoing project.
Bernard’s coverage of the Tattoo Scene has been long and extensive. It started in the mid nineties and has continued to this day. His work has appeared in hundreds of Tattoo magazines in Canada, United States, Mexico and Europe. His long personal/business relationship with tattoo writer Bob Baxter (former editor of Skin & Ink magazine) has been the source of the majority of Bernard’s portfolio. The two have travelled extensively together shooting tattoo stories across Canada, The United States and even Western Samoa where they created the book ‘Tattoo Road Trip’ Two weeks in Samoa-Schiffer Publishing. Now Clark is exhibiting fine art tattoo images and contributing to Baxter’s new website Tattoo Road Trip.com. In the next year Clark’s work will appear in 4 Tattoo Books in 3 countries.
Bernard's Work deeply reflects the style I am going to try to achieve. His photographs have an edgy look to them, which compliment his subjects.
Looking at his website, His images appear to be post-processed in a way which makes the art on people's skin 'pop'. for example, the contrast and sharpness appear to have been heightened. This is something I would consider when I get to the post-processing stage of producing my images.
