Getting the hang of cinemagraphs

This is my very first attempt at a cinemagraph (GIF). as you can see it is far from perfect and needs a lot more work doing to it.

I created this image purely to get the feel on how i would be acheiving my final images. it was created in about 10 minutes and hardly took any effort at all, so therefore i believe my final images will be alot stronger.

Quick list of things I used:

• canon 600d
• wide angle fish eye lens
• video mode.
• video shorter than 3 seconds.

Next time i will be using a tripod to keep the camera steady. you've probably noticed the eye wobbling about (due to the frames not lining up correctly) - this is because I held the camera in my hand (self portraits with one hand are pretty difficult!)
